The Martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicitas

Johnson's paper analyzes the early third century A.D. text, The Martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicitas. It includes personal narratives of men and women who refused to renounce their Christian faith, and subsequently died for their "crimes." Johnson's piece focuses on the account of Perpetua, a young mother who had not yet been accepted into the church, yet demonstrated unwavering courage and faith under persecution.
