Imagine Being Human-An Anthropology of Mutuality
Mary Aquin examines three myths of the Western world: Pandora, the androgyne, (as told by Plato) and Adam and Eve. She does this to highlight the different anthropologies that emerge from these myths. She argues that, if Christians are to understand what it means to be fully human, they must look not only to the Adam and Eve myth, but also to the interaction of Jesus and Mary at the wedding feast at Cana. These two stories show that to be fully human means living as interdependent men and women who are able to give and receive the gifts of others.
