Dr. Caplin argues that not only are feminism and spirituality not mutually exclusive, but that each principle relies upon and requires the other. She divides her lecture into two sections. In the first part she compares the oppression of women and young girls with the exploitation of the environment. In the second portion, she tackles the connections between feminism and spirituality more directly, and calls on all feminists to cultivate their spiritual gifts, as well as women religious to take feminist action.
